CHIMNEY ROCK VILLAGE, N.C. — After the U.S. 64 road segment reopening announcement, “business owners in Lake Lure and Chimney Rock said they are excited to welcome the visitors U.S. 64 will bring to the community,” Asheville television station WLOS (News 13) reported on March 25.
“Those roads reopening to Asheville, to Hendersonville, to Black Mountain — that’s where, like, 60 to 70 percent of our guests come from. So, those roads reopening is tremendous for us. We’re very excited,” Tom Halladay, the owner at Fae Nectar in Lake Lure, told News 13.
Meanwhile, Riverwatch Grill General Manager Shelly Banz-McCormack told the TV station, “Now that it’s going to be open, you can use that route to come and see us, and it’s just so exciting, and I hope that everyone takes advantage of that opportunity and come see us and come see Lake Lure when that’s ready — and just come see the progress.”
News 13’s “Comment Bubble” appearing after its story included the following assertions:
• SweetPotatoHitler — “Awesome. Was just down in Chimney Rock last week. It‘s such a special place. I hope they make a comeback. Losing the brewery on the creek was heartbreaking. The views from the deck were amazing.”
• Bobbyjoebob — “Just make sure you’re out of town by sundown, boy.”
• 107pilot — “Planning a trip up there now. Glad the road is back open.”
