ASHEVILLE, N.C. — The swashbuckling adventure tale “The League of the Scarlet Pimpernel” will be staged outdoors by the Montford Park Players beginning at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 7 in the Hazel Robinson Amphitheatre, 92 Gay Street, in Asheville’s Montford neighborhood.
The production will be performed Aug. 7-29 — on Fridays, Saturday and Sundays only.
The plot of “The League of the Scarlet Pimpernel” is billed as “a collection of short stories featuring Sir Percy Blakeney and his band of loyal friends as they use clever disguises and daring plans to rescue French aristocrats from the guillotine during the French Revolution.”
Sir Blakeney acts as a silly, lazy gentleman in public, but is actually the smart leader of the secret group.
Attendees are urged to bring lawnchairs and/or blankets. General admission is free. For premium seating tickets, visit online at www.MontfordParkPlayers.org.
