TRAVELERS REST, S.C. — The Carolina Coast Band will perform Carolina beach music and oldies from 7 to 9 p.m. Aug. 15 in the outdoor amphitheater, Trailblazer Park, 235 Trailblazer Drive, here.
The concert is part of TR’s annual Music in the Park series.
“Beach music is the defining ‘Sound of the Carolinas,’” according to the N.C. Museum of History.
The band, based in Williamston, is billed as performing “a signature mix” of beach, rhythm and blues, oldies and party music. The Carolina Coast Band’s top songs include “The Thing About You,” “Bluemonia” and “Keepin’ It To Myself”
Following is the background and history of the group:
• Formed in 2013 by former members of The Out-Of-Towners Band and other regional groups.
• Features decades of combined musical experience performing party, Motown, oldies and shag music.
• Member of the Carolina Beach Music Association. “The band and several of its members have won — or have been nominated for — several awards by the association during the past several years, joining the ranks of the many great beach music bands in their industry,” a promotion stated.
Food trucks will begin serving food and drinks at 6 p.m.
Attendees are urged to bring lawnchairs and/or blankets. Admission is free.
