“The greatest tyrannies are always perpetuated in the name of the noblest causes.”

My hometown is a bit of a mess.
The word “normal” is viewed as white privilege propaganda used to suppress minorities and the poor. That most people complaining about white privilege are white and privileged tells you much.
You don’t have to take my word for the messy part. Just come visit our downtown after the sun sets. You’ll see living proof that bad things grow in the dark.
It’s gotten so goofy, that I’m trying to sell my home of 40 years and move to the county, so as to be less dependent on the he, she, others who dominate city government.
But enough of my nonsense. I’m here to talk about their nonsense and the following 10 reasons Asheville and most blue-led cities are marching toward misery:
• Spending and borrowing other people’s money — There is nothing the left is better at than robbing one set of pockets and applying the takings to other pockets of their choice. It’s a great way to seize power and control – a lousy way to ensure good governance. Relentless staff salary and benefit increases reveal habitual indifference to citizen burdens.
• Ideological narcissism — There’s not many things more dangerous than a self-absorbed person who thinks they have all the answers – unless it’s a whole bunch of those people. Every elected office in our city and country is held by someone wearing a shade of blue who’s in charge of the purse strings, the media outlets, and about everything else but their own enthusiasms.
• Black culture dysfunction — Call me a racist if you wish, but culturist fits more surely. Years of being fed the angry-entitled-victim script has resulted in black cultural regression that would embarrass black members of the greatest generation. Broken families, misogyny, hip-hop narcissism, drugs, complacency and dependency on government do not a healthy culture make. Culture, character and choices trump color – every time.
• Good guys/bad guys script — Though they love the word diversity, actual diversity of thought scares liberals. Their simple solution is the “I’m right and good and you’re wrong and bad” position. Restaurants with only one menu item don’t survive.
• Dunning-Kruger effect — Bless these two gentlemen for suggesting that the less we know, the more we assume we know. It pegs our leadership to a tee, and explains why most liberals need to be mad to compensate for other deficiencies.
• Special interest groups — The number one job of local government is public services – including public safety. Our’s are both dedicated to special interests as a greater priority. No wonder we’re a mecca for people seeking handouts over opportunity.
• Liberal media bias — It was called “yellow journalism” a century ago, today it’s “blue journalism” and it demonstrates rampant bias by most of our local media outlets. It’s telling that the lack of diverse political representation in our community is never mentioned by any of our “diversity is everything” media folks.
• Transparency as a pretense vs. a reality — For a front row seat to how hard our local government works to conceal missteps, take a deeper dive into the black reparations fiasco; the failure to complete 2016 bond promises, and this decade’s unprecedented number of tax increases. Public information request responses will set your hair on fire.
• Benefits without accountability — Any helping equation that removes personal responsibility from the intervention is doomed to failure. Local government does precisely that and pretends virtue and best-practice dedications. Easy-practice would be a better descriptor. If you need a demonstration, take a drive, any time, down former Asheville tourist destination – now street predator haven – Tunnel Road.
• Selective application of the law — If you have a lazy day and want to learn something, go hang out in the courthouse. You’ll find the delays, dysfunction and lack of accountability astounding. That 575-plus liberal attorneys practice in Asheville will help you understand why. Buncombe’s courthouse – from a personal perspective – is less a house of justice than a camouflaged portal to hell.
You wouldn’t know it now, but Asheville and Buncombe County were once bastions of faith, conservatism, realism, social responsibility and normalized values.
What happened?
That’s easy, we’ve had a mass migration of people coming from blue states and asserting the standards they ran from. Note the indifference and total lack of respect for our traditional values and norms as they simultaneously mouth compassion.
If you really want to know why blue cities fail, take a moment to Google the Democrat’s party platform. What you’ll see there will make you blush.
Whether it makes you vote more intelligently is up to you.
