Shame on the woke co-owners of a Little Rock, Ark., restaurant for their lack of courage to stand up against intolerance, as well as showing a complete lack of traditional Arkansas hospitality and, at the worst, for displaying shocking rudeness and disrespect for asking Akansas GOP Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders to leave while she was at lunch there with friends on March 13.
To that end, Gov. Sanders wrote March 19 on X, “Last week I was having lunch with two other moms at a restaurant when the (co-) owner approached a member of the State Police Executive Protection Detail and said my presence made their employees feel threatened — and told us to leave.”
The governor said that people in Arkansas are known for their hospitality — and that the restaurant where she dined did not meet that standard.
“Arkansans are known for their warm hospitality, and while that restaurant didn’t meet that standard, my administration will continue to focus on lifting Arkansans up, not tearing others down,” the governor’s post concluded.
Meanwhile, the two co-owners of The Croissanterie, where Gov. Sanders was asked to leave, released a statement about the incident on March 19. They contended that there was no disruption at the restaurant — and when the governor arrived, she was served with no interruption.
Specifically, the co-owners’ statement asserts the following:
“As her security presence became more visible in the dining room, some employees and guests expressed discomfort. After the party completed their meal, a member of the security detail was quietly asked to help conclude the visit in line with our standard 90-minute table policy. The request was not immediately received, and the party remained for an additional period before departing without incident once communication was established.”
Gov. Sanders experienced a similar situation in 2018, when she was kicked out of a restaurant in Lexington, Va., during her tenure as the press secretary under President Donald Trump’s first administration. The owner of The Red Hen asked her to leave due, “citing her defense of the Trump administration’s policies and staff discomfort,” AI Overview noted.
Gov. Sanders deserves praised for maintaining her dignity and class during both rincidents. As for the lowlifes at The Croissanterie, it should be interesting to see if the mostly well-mannered Arkansans continue to dine there.
