“Everything in the world displeases me: but, above all, my displeasure in everything displeases me.”

The embers from President Trump’s recent amazingly successful foray into Venezuela hadn’t stopped glowing before the left piled on.
Within hours, we had a termite-like swarm of nationwide protests, biased mainstream media news pundits, and hysterical Democratic-Socialists coming out of the woodwork.
The verbal assassinations were relentless, loud, and, well, almost universally simplistic and naïve.
But that was nothing compared to the left’s reaction to the Minnesota ICE-agent shooting of Renee Good.
Within minutes, the rush to judgment, assumption, accusation went into liberal hyper-drive.
Actually, today’s left-minded aren’t really liberals. They have much more in common with a dogmatic primitive preacher relentlessly shouting “you’re going to hell” while ignoring God’s prime directives on biblical sincerity, truth, accountability, love and the pointed dangers of condemnation.
The dictionary definition of “liberal” is (1) those willing to respect or accept behavior or opinions different from our own; open to new ideas and (2) a political and social philosophy that promotes individual rights, liberties, democracy and free enterprise.
The left has kidnapped the word “liberal” much like the authoritarian Chinese communist “People’s Republic of China” has kidnapped the word “republic.”
A better word for today’s left is “nihilist.”
That same dictionary defines “nihilist” as (1) having a viewpoint that traditional values and beliefs are unfounded (2) a doctrine that denies any objective ground of truth and especially of moral truths and (3) a doctrine or belief that conditions in the social organization are so bad as to make destruction desirable for its own sake independent of any constructive program or possibility.
Any of that ring familiar?
How about we seal the deal by pointing out the relentless nihilistic absurdities of today’s left:
Indifference to truth — Truth isn’t relative. How we use it can be. Liberals think in terms of “my truth” and thus can justify about anything. Every despot in history has taken the same train to abusing truth as a necessity for corrupt agendas.
Anger — Spend five minutes on Facebook and it’s a good bet you’ll bump into a video of one liberal protestor or another yelling, screaming, harassing, or otherwise pushing their anger button. Study the brain, and you will find anger reduces our capacity for thought, awareness, logic, and reason. No surprise there.
Condemnation — “Judge not lest yea be judged” is a silly notion to the left and for good reason. Attacking others is a child-like way of building up a fragile ego or position. Remember middle-school?
Enablers supreme — Love is what one does to uplift others. Enabling is what one does to secretly uplift themselves. Liberals love to play the rescuer for the same reason that little boys like to pretend they’re Batman.
Cherry picking — Liberal with a plan? You can bet they will inflate the positive potentials while minimizing the negatives. Fires in California? We did a great job and will rebuild quickly. Something bad happened in Minnesota? Grab hold of what suits our narrative and throw out the rest. The opposition has done something good? Emphasize every mistake while ignoring their achievement.
Vilification — The left practices a simple creed, “If you ain’t with me, you’re against me.” This good guys (me) vs. bad guys (you) is not remotely up to the challenges of our complex times.
Victimization and entitlement — Teach people to think like victims, and they dependably will start looking for a savior. That’s the left’s political power strategy in a nutshell. Watch how often they use the words, “you deserve” when appealing to voters.
No tomorrow — Power today is the liberal mission. That means borrowing, taxing, regulating, and dominating through any means possible is justified – even if it sacrifices our future. In fact, destroying our future is part of the nihilist’s creed.
Indifference to new life — How can you pretend to care about people when you ruthlessly support the banishment of new life as the presumed path to becoming a person? Abortion rights is advocacy for convenience, not humanity.
Don’t actually like people — Liberals like the notion of people more than the reality of people. Don’t believe it? Watch how they react when you dare to have an opinion differing from theirs.
Going back to that definition of “nihilist,” about every liberal policy and position you can identify is designed to fail. Open borders, indulging crime, acceptable violence, spending tomorrow’s money today, denial as go to position, dismantling of the family, turning people into pets, destruction or our public education system, antagonism toward faith, and division as public policy are all aimed at reducing the traditional American success equation.
For clarity, read the Democratic Party’s platform. It’s a nihilist’s dream.
If, after having done so, you feel sick, it’s a sign you haven’t lost your connection to reality.
If you feel happy, consider Alcoholics Anonymous.
The 12-step program can help with liberalism, too.
