Planet columnist Buckner termed ‘hilarious’ — and a ‘numbskull’ for so revived movement in the U.S.

I picked up the Aug. 19-Sept. 1 issue of the Daily Planet at a local sandwich shop yesterday.

I got a good laugh out of (columnist) Roger Buckner’s defense of not being stupid in his recent commentary.

To say that he graduated 192 out of a high class of 197 at his local school decades ago was absolutely hilarious!

I can hardly believe anyone would say such as defense of not being stupid, but this numbskull actually put it in print.

After reading all of Buckner’s article, I believe that Jake Pickering is correct — Roger Buckner is a very stupid man.

This one goes out to those anti-truth, anti-science, anti-American, anti-common sense conservatives — like (Daily Planet columnist) Roger Buckner — who are complete cowards and (expletive deleted) for traitor Trump (AKA “Israel’s b--ch”).

Keep taking your marching orders from Tel Aviv, Wall Street, Hollywood, Silicon Valley, and Epstein Island, GOP (Guardians of Pedophiles).

(The late) Dolly Parton famously sang a parody of her hit song “Jolene” while receiving her COVID-19 vaccine in March 2021 to encourage the public to get inoculated.

• The “Jolene” rewrite: Dolly performed her memorable lyrical adaptation urging people not to hesitate, noting that once you are dead it is too late. You can find the full altered lyrics in the referenced web document.

• On being eligible and ready: She stated regarding her readiness to receive the inoculation, “I’m old enough to get it and I’m smart enough to get it.”

• On not being a coward: Urging others to step up, she remarked, “I just want to say to all of you cowards out there, don’t be such a chicken squat. Get out there and get your shot.”

• On the goal of normalcy: Emphasizing the seriousness of the effort to return to normalcy, she described the vaccine as a great “shot in the arm.”

• On her $1 million research donation: Reflecting on her financial contribution to the scientific fund, she noted she simply wanted it to do good.

The Islamophobic James W. Bruggeman’s opinions about Islamic Muslims in this country, wishing to take over the country, were highlighted in the Aug. 19-Sept. 1 (edition of the) Hendersonville Daily Planet.

America has become the hellish 21st century 21st century futuristic dystopia foreseen — and worried about — by generations of regular science-fiction writers, dystopian science-fiction authors, futurists and Hollywood movie directors.

Postmodern America is a dystopian landscape. Twenty-first century America is the realization of the dystopian science-fiction novels “1984” and “Brave New World” and “Farenheit 451.”

Could you blame America’s Islamic citizens for wishing to take over and to repair America?

And that’s why the Islamic terrorist groups Al Qaeda and Islamic State are so angry with them. Al Qaeda and Islamic State want them to try to take over and to attempt to create an Islamic America. But they only want to live in peace.

The Mexicans are the ones who are going to take over and turn America into another Mexico.

But our Islamic Americans practice a peaceful form of the Islamic religion — just as Muhammad Ali did — and desire to generally assimilate and fit in (and not make waves) and to live in peace.

I don’t know why the Hendersonville Daily Planet shined a spotlight on that right-winger James W. Bruggeman?!

The Daily Planet appears to be morphing from a progressive-liberal newspaper to a right-wing newspaper — which would be OK if the Daily Planet didn’t shine a spotlight on horrible right-wingers... like of late.

As the midterm elections loom, Trump employs ‘Red Scare’ strategy, reader contends

Heading into the midterms, the Trump administration faces daunting prospects.It has everything to do with economic uncertainties as well as odious ICE optics, family grifting and the chaotic war of choice in Iran that has cost lives, displaced families, depleted munitions, alienated allies and embarrassed and diminished the United States globally.

The Trump strategy: deny, lie, distract and target Democratic socialists. It’s a familiar riff from the “Red Scare” playbook of the 1950s.

Watch out for “Democrat communists.” They are still nostalgic for the Soviet Union.

“Communism is a mortal threat to American liberty,” recently ranted Trump. “It is the greatest threat to our country, including World War I, World War II, Pearl Harbor and even 9/11.”

The acolyte echo chamber takes it from there. “This is not your granddaddy’s Democrat Party; these are communists,” underscored former White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.

Louisiana Rep. Steve Scalise, the House Majority Leader, also weighed in: “The Bolshevik takeover of the Democratic Party is in full swing, and communism is on the ballot this November.” Game on.Joseph McCarthy and Roy Cohn would be proud.

The United Nations Genocide Convention includes “deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part” among the acts that can constitute genocide.

South Africa made this specific prohibition central to its case against Israel before the International Court of Justice.

While a final ruling on the merits may take years, the ICJ has already ordered Israel to “take all measures within its power” to prevent acts forbidden under the Convention.

Physicians for Human Rights Israel issued a July 2025 report titled Destruction of Conditions of Life: A Health Analysis of the Gaza Genocide.

It concludes: “Though Israel has cited military necessity... the scale, pattern and nature of the operations, as well as accompanying statements, indicate a broader policy aimed at destroying Palestinian society in Gaza and making the enclave unlivable.”

The report argues that the targeted destruction of hospitals, the obstruction of medical aid, and the killing and imprisonment of over 1,800 health care workers reveal a “deliberate and systematic dismantling of Gaza’s health and life-sustaining systems.”

Israeli architect Eyal Weizman makes a related argument in his 2026 book, “Ungrounding: The Architecture of Genocide.” Weizman documents how Israel’s demolition of Gaza has made the territory unrecognizable and uninhabitable.

He explains in detail how buildings, “agriculture, wells and the soil itself has been destroyed and made toxic by bombs, artillery, tank shells and sappers [combat engineers].”

An Israeli bulldozer operator in Gaza says that if Palestinians return to where their homes stood, “All they will find is sand.”

According to Weizman, “Ungrounding...aims to remove a society from its place and erase all traces to its previous existence.”

When hospitals, homes, water systems, farmland and even the soil are systematically destroyed, this is not collateral damage. It is the deliberate creation of conditions for the impossibility of life and must be confronted for what it is: genocide.
