“It doesn’t benefit me to lie to people. They’re eventually going to find out the truth, and then where am I? That’s the problem with liberalism and socialism, by the way: it has to be propped up by lies.”

Miss you Rush – you made it fun and kept things interesting.
No one upheld the voice of reason better.
To this day, I smile when I hear one of your echoes.
Right about now, amidst the meltdown of the “our platform is mostly spending other people’s money, spending our children’s future money, and fighting Donald Trump” party, with a twinkle and a wink, Rush would be telling them how to fix things.
In his absence, mind if I reconjure a little Rush-logic on that subject?
If you wear a donkey lapel pin, consider the following helpful suggestions on how the Democrat Party can recover its displaced mojo:
• Stop playing Cowboys and Indians — Though it may have been a fun game when we were kids, good guy – bad guy is not a sound foundation for political competency. The dangers we face at home and abroad require a higher level of sophistication than those typically birthed out of a ten-year old’s mindset.
• Start listening to more than special interest groups — Democrats are nothing if not devotees to the shrill cries of every self-service enthusiast in America. In so doing, you’ve lost touch with the mainstream which, believe it or not, are not similarly addicted to “me first.”
• Stop lying to yourself and others — The Russia hoax, 50 sneaky intelligence officers, and trumped-up Trump charges are all examples of a core policy of dishonesty. Nothing, however, cements those credentials more surely than how you concealed Joe Biden’s catastrophic decline while he served in the most powerful public office in the world. Astounding is an understatement.
• Start actually supporting diversity — Though you guys talk a good game, you actually hate diversity and do darn near everything you can to extinguish it. Having a tolerant attitude just for those who share your view is called myopia, not diversity.
• Stop the anger and hate thing — Firing up the home team to commit acts of violence – burning electric cars being an ironic example – is a leadership model that will turn your 10-year-olds into temper tantrum fueled two-year-olds.
• Start culling your sociopaths — Don’t look now, but your party is emersed in pathological self-servers who are smooth as glass at pretending to care. They are marked by their continual failure to actually do anything caringly productive beyond sustaining themselves.
• Stop deflecting every conversation away from reality — Ask one of you guys a question, and you will dependably talk about everything but the subject at hand. “Do you have concerns about the seventy-million intercepted new lives in America since 1973,” and you’ll answer with something like “a woman’s body is her own.” Asked about mandating Covid vaccines and you will answer with “we are compelled to be responsible for the lives of others around us.” Deflection is deception.
• Start being careful with other people’s money — Are you really so clueless to believe that $30 trillion in federal debt is not worthy of even cursory budgetary consideration? Are you guys leaders or drunken sailors? Wait, you need not answer that.
• Stop confusing virtue signaling with actual virtue — No wonder Hollywood is the voice of the left. It takes an actor to so relentlessly sell the “virtue” of training people to be pets, dependent on the least dependable thing in the world – government. Helping people in need is a great thing — doing the left’s thing of training people to be in need is a horrible thing.
• Start separating predators from true victims — Sorry guys, immaturity and mental illness are calls for treatment, not a political opt-out for the struggling. Advocating tolerance and privilege for Rainbow Dildo Butt Monkey is not going to help him or you.
I live in a community — Asheville, N.C. — where less than five percent of our attorneys are registered Republicans; 98 percent of our elected officials are Democrats; public schools are staffed by a dramatic majority of left-minded teachers and administrators; and all of our mainstream media outlets are liberally biased.
There’s a reason the police do not have the manpower to show up for most non-violent crimes.
For now, the Democrat Party is large and in charge through solid power dedications and a pretense of people dedications.
To their dismay, this band of misguided brothers — even here — is dying a reluctant death. More and more real people are wising up.
I want to say, “take heart, it’s not too late to turn your donkey around,” but Rush would tell me I’m selling a political pipe dream.
He was great at reality checks.
