In this Sunday afternoon of March 16, my babies would come to my door and, after prayer, ask of me why anyone who knew an ounce of history would all the Honorable (Confederate States of America) President Jefferson Davis a traitor and an insurrectionist, as was done by a sitting Senator Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass.? 

“Mr. H.K.,” they continued, “when President Davis gave his farewell address to a packed house in the Senate chamber, there was not a dry eye to be found on either side of the aisle.... 

“There he (Davis) stood, considered by his peers to be the foremost legal mind in the country. 

“There he stood, a man loved and respected by his peers. 

“There he stood, loved by every African on the Davis Bend Plantations of whom the majority could read and write. 

“There he stood, a man who had modernized the armed forces of the United States that would be used against him pleading for peace between those who had followed the modus operandi of the Bill of Rights in the first American Secession to remove themselves if wronged. 

“There he stood, a devout Christian who would save a young slave boy who was being beaten in the streets of Richmond, Va. (Jim Limber), take him into his home and treat him like his son. 

“Mr. H.K., what say you of President Davis?” they would ask.

I answered, “If the Almighty God had a Board of Directors in the Kingdom of Heaven and needed a board chair, he would instruct the Honorable President Jefferson Davis to take the seat.”

There was a deafening silence in that room in my home for what seemed like an eternity before a huge roar — almost simultaneously — came from all present. God bless you!
