From Staff Reports
The third person charged with ethnic intimidation — and “specifically for her actions” — stemming from an assault incident that reportedly happened June 29 at the West Asheville Library has turned herself in to police on ethnic intimidation charges, the Asheville Police Department noted in a Sept. 17 news release.
Specifically, Emily Kathryn Murphy, 38, “was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility on Sept. 17 and released under a Written Promise to Appear issued by the magistrate,” the release stated.
“Detectives are continuing their investigation and, if anyone has information about this incident, you are encouraged to contact the Asheville Police Department at (828) 252-1110. If you want to share information anonymously, you can text TIP2APD to 847411 or use the TIP2APD smartphone app.”
Murphy was charged with ethnic intimidation following an incident that reportedly happened during a seminar hosted by “Another Carolina Anarchist Bookfair.” The seminar was called “Strategic Lessons from the Palestinian Resistance.”
Tyler Byrne Hackett Kelly, 33, and Michael Solomon Brocenos, now 35, also were charged with ethnic intimidation — “specifically for (their) actions” at the library — and each individual turned himself in to the police, the APD noted in July 18 and Aug. 8 news releases.
