A story appearing in the Aug. 14-27 edition of the Asheville Daily Planet erred in quoting several assertions by Bruce O’ Connell, a candidate for the Districtt 2 seat on the Buncombe County Board of Commissioners, who participated in a candidates’ forum hosted by the Asheville-based Council of Independent Business Owners on Aug. 14 in UNC Asheville’s Sherrill Center.
First, the story should have stated that O’Connell said the county’s annual budget was “$600 million” — not $600 billion, as reported.
Also, it should have quoted him as saying, “We need to extend sewer lines, so that we free up land currently tied up with septic drain service.”
In addition, O’Connell said that his three top priorities, if elected, should have been reported as “affordability and taxes, safety and security, and maintaining our infrastructure.”
