From Staff Reports

HAYESVILLE – Christian Reagan of Clay County has announced his challenge of incumbent U.S. Rep. Chuck Edwards, R-Flat Rock, for the Republican nomination for the North Carolina’s 11th Congressional District.

An Oct. 23 story in the Hendersonville Lightning, headlined “Aptly named Republican running for 11th Dist. seat,” stated:

“A mortgage-broker by day, the ‘God-fearing, family-loving’ Republican in a Stetson hat lives in Hayesville with his wife, Hope, their cats Max and Molly and a yellow lab Bella. Their two children (Luke and Grace) are grown.

“Reagan has been in the race for a while, having declared his candidacy by this past July, when he was making appearances in counties in the 11th Congressional District.”

Meanwhile, on his campaign website, Reagan stated the following:

“Our country has been sold out and destroyed from within by the ‘elite’ class in Washington, D.C.

“They see themselves as ‘American Royalty’ and they conspire against the American people to establish rules of power for their own personal benefit... If elected to Congress, I will represent the forgotten men and women in the United States.

“We have been pushed aside for too long and, to be honest, we have been forgotten and looked upon as weak peasants.”

Also on his campaign website, Reagan noted,

“We moved to the Appalachians to retire and enjoy the fruits of our labor. Labor filled with trials, struggles and frustration. All of which were overcome with determination, hard work and true grit. So, another challenge is ahead. A challenge not foreseen nor desired. A challenge that we cannot walk away from — but one worthy of the risk.”
