From Staff Reports
The Tibetan Monks of Drepung Loseling Monastery will give a public lecture and guided meditation Oct. 21 at UNC Asheville. These events are free and open to everyone.
The lecture, "The Psychology of Enlightenment," will take place at 11 a.m. in the Mission Health Mountain View Room at UNCA’s Sherrill Center. This lecture is part of the university’s Humanities Lecture series — comprising components of courses taken by all students as part of the university’s liberal arts curriculum, which are also free and open to the public.
The guided meditation will take place at 12:30 p.m. on the UNCA's Quad, or, in case of inclement weather, in the Sherrill Center Mission Health Mountain View Room.
The monks, who visited UNCA in 2014, are from the Drepung Loseling Monastery Center for Tibetan Buddhist Studies, Practice and Culture, which is affiliated with Emory University in Atlanta. The monks’ appearance at UNCA is presented in partnership with LEAF Community Arts; the monks will participate in the 43rd LEAF Festival, which takes place Oct. 20-23.
