WASHINGTON — A rally scheduled on Sept. 18 — the so-called Justice for J6 rally defending those rioters who breached the Capitol on Jan. 6, but allegedly were unfairly prosecuted —‚ will not be attended by U.S. Reps. Madison Cawthorne, R-Hendersonville, and Marjorie Greene, R-Ga., two of the most vocal conservatives who have voiced that argument.
“Congressman Cawthorn is not attending this event,” Luke Ball, ommunications director for Cawthorn, emailed the Daily Planet on Sept. 13 in response to an inquiry from the newspaper on the rally.
Politico.com reported that Greene has said she will not be attending, adding that, as the rally looms, “congressional security officials are beginning to prepare for potential risks amid heightened scrutiny of lapses in the response to the violence of Jan. 6’s riot led by supporters of former President Donald Trump.”
