Hendersonville OKs test closing of Main Street May 29-31 to allow eateries to expand outside
Tuesday, 02 June 2020 16:25

From Staff Reports

HENDERSONVILLE — As a one-time experiment, Hendersonville City Council recently voted to close Main Street to vehicles on May 29-31 to encourage outdoor dining with adequate spacing — and other activities.

During Open Streets Weekend, eateries offered outside table service, and retailers were permitted to set up demonstrations and displays.

Council approved the idea as a way to increase downtown foot traffic.
