Wednesday, 02 October 2019 21:04

From Staff Reports

The Rev. Franklin Graham will be preaching at the U.S. Cellular Center in downtown Asheville at 4 p.m. Oct. 13 during his ongoing Decision America Tour, which will roll across his home state of North Carolina this fall.

Along with Graham’s presentation will be the music of Jeremy Camp. He is billed as a “contemporary Christian music singer and songwriter from Lafayette, Indiana... His original music is a mixture of ballads and up-tempo songs with rock influence.”

Franklin Graham is the son of the late evangelist Billy Graham, who was born and raised in Charlotte, which is the home to the Billy Graham Library and the headquarters of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.

However, before Billy Graham died in February 2018, he spent many years in Montreat, just east of Asheville. Montreat is where Franklin Graham and his four siblings were raised.

“The work of BGEA has deep roots in North Carolina, and I am excited to have the opportunity to preach the Gospel in cities across the Tar Heel state,” Franklin Graham said in a press release.

The Decision America Tour has been traveling across the United States since the beginning of 2016, when Franklin Graham visited all 50 state capitals to lead Americans in prayer and call the nation back to God.

“The final stop of the 2016 tour took place in Raleigh, where more than 14,000 people crowded the Capitol Grounds to pray together,” the release noted.

“Since then, Franklin Graham has continued to travel to various regions of the country — most recently the Northeast — to tell people the Good News of Jesus Christ.”

From Oct. 1–13, the Decision America Tar Heel State Tour will make eight stops, including in Fayetteville, Greenville, Wilmington, Raleigh, Greensboro, Hickory, Charlotte and Asheville.

The other North Carolina stops are as follows:

• Fayetteville, 7 p.m. Oct. 1, Festival Park.

• Greenville, 7 p.m. Oct. 2, Pitt County American Legion Agricultural Fairgrounds.

• Wilmington, 4 p.m. Oct. 5, Legion Stadium.
