FLAT ROCK — Blue Ridge Community College is shifting its annual Music by the Lake 2020 series to late summer.

BRCC’s free, outdoor musical concert series, located on the shore adjoining the college’s lake, usually begins in May, but as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the first concert this year has been delayed until July 12.

The featured musical artists — performing 5-7 p.m. — will include the Apple Country String Band, July 12; Tom Fisch, July 26; Pretty Little Goat, Aug. 16; Tuxedo Junction Band, Aug. 30; and Nick Chandler & Delivered, Sept. 27.

“I’m excited to announce that our Music by the Lake series will be starting this July,” event organizer M.C. Gaylord was quoted by the Hendersonville Times-News as saying in a May 13 story. “The musical lineup will include folk, rock and bluegrass, so we hope you’ll join us with chairs and picnics in hand for the best free entertainment in town.”

Music by the Lake is billed as a gift to the community that features a wide range of musical and vocal groups. The public is always invited to bring lawnchairs and picnic food to enjoy at the event. In an effort to promote safe participation, all recommended CDC measures will be followed at the events,” according to an event promotion.
